I’ve been helping families faced with legal challenges since 1999.
Early in my career, I realized that I wanted to help people who were facing difficult and disruptive changes in their lives, giving them the legal support they needed to get to a better place. As a family lawyer, I help my clients navigate all the emotional, financial and practical challenges that arise after a relationship breaks down. My goal is to help them make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
I represent both married and unmarried partners, including parents with kids of all ages. I also work on child protection cases and other family law matters involving children, drawing on the wealth of experience I gained serving for 11 years as legal counsel with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto. I understand the emotional and financial toll that legal disputes can take on children, as well as on parents who may be wrestling with other challenges, including mental health and addiction issues.
Going to court is typically not the best (or advisable) option in most family law matters. But when it becomes necessary, I’m well prepared to represent my clients. I appear regularly before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal. In 2024, I successfully argued a case involving a complex international child custody dispute before the Supreme Court of Canada.
I’m a longstanding member of the Toronto Lawyers’ Association, the Family Lawyers Association and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts – Ontario. I’ve taught courses in family law and child protection law through the latter’s professional education program.
